In my restless dreams, I see that map… Cobblestone. But it’s gone now, and in return, CSGO players got Dust 2.
The slightly more experienced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive community misses the Cobblestone map in the pool of active maps. It was removed exactly 3 years ago, on April 20, 2018. In return, Gabe Newell and the company decided to add Dust 2, which quickly won the hearts of players. Either way, a lot of them would like to be able to play on Cobblestone again.
Will Cobblestone come back to CSGO?
In 2020, there were several signs that suggested that Valve was working on a new map rotation in the “Active Map Pool”. Unfortunately, at one point it turned out that all the developers’ work was focused on Operation Broken Fang, which was added to the game at the end of the year. Yeah, it ends soon, so it’s safe to say that the developers have returned to work on the map pool.
For a long time now, players have been asking for the map pool to be refreshed, and most of all for Cobblestone to be added again.
The above map from Liquipedia shows that we could see Cobblestone for the last time during the ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 event. There is a high probability that Cobblestone will be in the same situation as Nuke and Train and it will return to the map pool soon.
- ALSO – CSGO players are alarming that VAC Ban in CSGO has stopped working. “It’s not working since January 2021”
It’s hard to say what the developers are actually planning. Perhaps this time they will decide to listen to their community and the legendary Cobblestone will return to CSGO.
