Thoma was officially unveiled on Livestream 2.0. What do we know about him?
Thoma is a new, possibly four-star character from Inazuma. It is anticipated that he will be the Pyro character with the spear.
Previously, he was known by several names – Touma, Tohama, Tohma, and Toemore. The stream shows how to write his name, and the easiest way to remember him is Thomas without the letter S.
Unfortunately, we do not know the release date of the spearman yet. However, concluding that we know all the heroes from Inazuma coming out in 2.0, the earliest version in which he will appear is version 2.1.
As far as we know, Thoma will be a polearm user and his element is Pyro. It is not confirmed how many stars he will have, however, leaks say it is 4 ★. Unfortunately, his skills have not yet been revealed.
We already know the Japanese voice actor for Thoma – it will be Masakazu Morita. We know him from anime such as Bleach, where he voiced Ichigo Kurosaki, or Akatsuki no Yona, where he voiced Ki-ya.
Role in the plot
Thoma is the Chief Retainer of the Kamisato clan, from which Ayaka also comes. He has a close relationship with her and her siblings.
During the broadcast, it was noticeable that Thoma has blonde hair, which is strange for a character from Inazuma. This may suggest that he is an immigrant from Mondstadt or another nation where this hair color is more common.
We know from the first beta of Genshin Impact that Ayaka is a person of high status. In her vocal lines, she tells Thoma to bring her an umbrella immediately.
In the later Ayaka lines, we get fragments of Touma’s actions.
Organizing festivals and ceremonies is the responsibility of the Shabukyo and the Shrine Maidens, and our handler of fireworks really knows how to build an exhilarating atmosphere. Although this summer I’ve decided not to ask her to oversee the fireworks…because I don’t want Touma having to apologize to the firefighting teams again.
From this, we get another confirmation of the assumption that Thoma is a kind of guardian. He apologizes for the action that is not Ayaka’s or Yoimiya’s fault. Perhaps he is acting as a liaison with Ayaka’s public opinion.
In another verse, Ayaka says:
Thoma is a dear friend. He always lifts my spirits with his sunny disposition. In a sense, I think of him as another brother, and as a full member of the Kamisato Clan.
This explains that they are close, but not in a romantic way.
Thoma is a mature, kind and perceptive companion of Ayaka, whose origin we do not know. We will have to wait for his arrival to find out more.
